This song was one I wrote while processing the loss of our child, Jayme, in August 2019. It was recorded at Waterdog Studios shortly before the COVID shut down happened. I love the interplay between Steve and Tommy's electric guitars, and Bean and Brian's work as a rhythm section really anchors the tune.
lyrics
Things change, things pass
They move slow until they move fast
There’s nothing wrong, but nothing lasts
Things change
One day you’re born, the next you’re gone
No one stays forever young
Turn the page until the story’s done
Things change
Sons and mothers, dads and daughters
Generations chase each other
Out of time and out of breath
The kaleidoscope of birth and death
Things change, they always do
But what remains, remains true
Life is a game, so play through
Things change
Sail on home
We all know where to go
Sail on home
Hang on or hang it up
Tough it out or act tough
It’s so strange that enough is not enough
Things change
Hey you, you know it’s wrong
It’s not true just because it’s in a song
You say the same until you move on
Things change
Sons and mothers, dads and daughters
Generations chase each other
Out of time and out of breath
The kaleidoscope of birth and death
Sons and mothers, dads and daughters
Generations chase each other
Sail on home -- we all know where to go
Sail on home -- a port of call awaits us all
Darkness fades, pain recedes
We all grieve -- we all know where to go
Sail on home, sail on home
Love remains, things change

The Bad Examples burst on the Chicago rock scene in the early 90s, and extensive touring around America as well as hits in
Europe established them as fan favorites and critical darlings. Their musically rich and lyrically resonant albums were at odds with the aesthetic of grunge, the industry "flavor of the day," and so mainstream success eluded them, but the band has remained true to their sound....more
